This whole period of treatment feels like a regular circuit of events, even if each loop around the track is a little bit different. Chemotherapy days stand out in their own way. Early starts, lots of texts from friends and family, lots of things to remember to take - food, blanket, medication, drinks, full sharps boxes, drugs C isn't using anymore...
These days have their own regular tempo. Time is measured in drugs and flushes. 1 hour of this, then 30 minutes of that. All reliably counted down by the dispenser with its train track clickety-clack.
Going on the ward is like entering some kind of familiar twilight zone. It's so different from all the other days. So different from our 'normal' life. But so familiar because here we are again.
I wanted to capture the soundscape of these days because it's almost impossible to describe. So whatever we're doing with this blog - sharing, capturing, remembering... this soundscape needs to be part of it.
